Power War:  Shot Across the Bow

In early January, my fellow Smart Meter Resistor Bonnie Menth and I wrote "formal" complaints and mailed them to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC).   The IPUC received the complaints and placed us on the Commission's Agenda for the meeting held on January 17, 2011.

The IPUC Consumer Assistants, Daniel Klein and Nancy Hylton prepared a Decision Memorandum for the Commissioners that included our complaints with documentation, a summary of both complaints, a staff recommendation and decision questions for the Commissioners:

Decision Memorandum

The Commission's Decision isn't posted yet, but they did make the following decisions:

1.  Open a Case

2.  Combine Bonnie's complaint with mine

3.  Request Idaho Power to respond to the complaints.

The only issues brought up during the minute and a half discussion were

1.  A clarification for one of the Commissioners that both complainants were not sharing a meter.

2.  One of the Commissioners was concerned about the cost to Idaho Power to replace the smart meters with analog meters.   She was also concerned about how Idaho Power would accomplish time-based billing.
